Irresistible Bag

Today my youngest daughter has a party to go to.  I always try to give handmade gifts for kids parties - and this year all of my daughters' friends have been getting Pencil and Notebook folders.

I decided for this one - to make a matching tote bag to give it in - instead of using wrapping paper. Here it is:

And here's the gift and bag together:

I used ric rac, stitching it to the fabric in a criss-cross pattern:

I matched the fabric to one of those I'd used on the pencil and notebook folder, and lined the bag with a nice silky fabric:

Hope the birthday girl likes her gift!

What handmade gifts to do give kids?

  1. That is such a lovely idea giving handmade gifts Jill. Both projects are fantastic. Hope this weather is not too damp for your parents visit. Great for gardening though. :-)

  2. What a fun mom you are. I am encouraged by your thoughtfulness and homemade gifts are usually less expensive and come with a higher love tag attached. :) I am slowly learning to sew and these ideas are great for me.

  6. I love the bag! I actually like the one you made with ricrac more than the one with sequins.

  7. Love the ric rac and the gorgeous colour of the bag. Two great presents that will almost certainly be loved. Way to go using the bag instead of paper. I'm wrapping my Christmas presents in fabric bags this year. Last night I wrote a post on Christmas wrapping, for another blog and will put onto my blog soon.
